Recent work from Real Photography
What a pleasure 2019 has proven to be - in developing my skills as a photographer as well as getting to meet so many families, capturing memories and providing images for your walls, and working with SO MANY wonderful individuals!! A couple of highlights below (the sweetness of siblings, and babies!!) from recent newborn lifestyle photoshoots...one new client and one returning client I had the honor of photographing. I hope that you find peace and get to experience warmth this winter season. I'm looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!!!

What an honor to photograph this multi-day educational training, held at the gorgeous Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Seattle WA. The Indigenous Breastfeeding Counselor Training "provides foundational lactation education to Native people so that they can provide clinical breastfeeding support in their communities." More photos may be found on my Events page - this training was filled with community, deep learning, babes-in-arms and a profound sense of dedication from both the students and instructors, Camie and Kim. As a photographer, this event was both powerful and fun to photograph; as a doula and a mother I found the wisdom and information shared throughout my time photographing to be deeply touching. To learn more about this training and to support them, please visit their Facebook page! It was also an extreme joy to recently photograph the Union Hapkido International Seminar held at Enso Center in Redmond WA. This unique event was a phenomenal showcase of immense talent and hard work from Hapkido Master Martial Artists (high level black belts) from around the world, as well as students from the Center. Congratulations to all of those who promoted to the next belt level (dan) during this event...you are truly an inspiration! The Center is a beautiful location to photograph, and the sense of encouragement within the community they have created is also palpable. Thank you for inviting me to capture this event!
This family booked a full storytelling session in order to catch up on some professional images and capture extended family members in on a rare visit. I love working to creatively design sessions in order to give you plenty of unique images and cherished memories from an entire day spent in the company of those you love. During this session, we were able to capture preschool portraits for the youngest, a 13-member family photo with local and out-of-state relatives (& family dog included!), a break-away grandparent-grandchild photo op, many candids, and a mini couples session! I love providing a variety of images that can truly stand alone - you'll never receive a whole gallery of identical images from me. If you have a great idea for making the most out of your full storytelling session, please get in contact- I'd love to hear from you!!
Late summer through early fall is the PERFECT time for family photography - whether it's an annual tradition for you or a more rare special occasion: it's worth capturing your sweetest memories now because 1) our vegetation is still lush and green, 2) we have some of the BEST weather of the year at this time in the PNW, and 3) as the wheel spins towards winter, the light begins to slant down in new and subtle ways, enhancing your photos with gorgeous natural lighting. Plus you get your photos back in plenty of time to order holiday cards or gifts! Below are highlights from two new families I had the pleasure of photographing - both chose to hold their sessions at beautiful city parks, located near the water. Enjoy!
This is it -- the last hurrah of summer!! I am SO thankful I've gotten the opportunity to reach my personal photography goals for the summer, and grow as a photographer! First at the beginning of summer I had the opportunity of stretching my limits (my camera's limits!) and creating some fine art images with the lovely Kelsey Dylan. It was a wonderful exercise in creative low-light/night photography, and I'm quite pleased with the results. The images are sweet, spooky, expressive, and ethereal...exactly what I was going for! My next goal of the summer summer was to explore astrophotography and capture some starry night shots at one of my favorite hidden spots in nature. The results are so beautiful!! I'm thankful to have captured the feel of this special place. Now though it feels like playtime is over, and it's time to get back to serious business - fall is busy season for family photos, high school senior portraits, and more! Please enjoy a sneak peek of one family's sweet August session with me - and stop by for a round of mini sessions next weekend- my newest fall addition! Revised minis session dates: SATURDAY ONLY! |
